All States' Members are required to swear an oath to abide by the Code of Conduct.

The Code of Conduct sets out the expected behaviour of a Member of the States of Deliberation, helps them to understand what they should and should not do, and outlines their obligations and duties to the States and the community.

All Members are required to comply with the provisions of the Code of Conduct in all aspects of their public life. Although it does not seek to dictate what Members do in their private and personal lives, they must be aware that some private and personal matters may affect their public roles.

The Commissioner for Standards is responsible for considering complaints about States' Members' conduct.
