Guernsey has been my home for 40 years, and I have contributed much in the past to the community, both as a Consultant Physician for MSG, and latterly as a non voting member of HSC. I still have much to give, utilising my learned experiences from my professional career, and my proven management ability, particularly now the Island faces significant problems. I am not afraid of hard work, nor of making difficult decisions. i would ask for your support so I can continue to contribute, this time with a voice and a vote in the Assembly
Manifesto
Who I Am
- 34 years as a frontline doctor in Guernsey
- Founder and former Chairman of the Medical Specialist Group
- Current member of the Health & Social Care Committee
- Lived on the island since 1985 – Guernsey is my home
Why I’m Standing
Because Guernsey needs experienced, independent voices in the States – especially on health and social care. I’m not here for politics. I’m here to get things done.
My Priorities
HEALTH & CARE
- Deliver the right hospital upgrade
- Fast-track social care reform so elderly patients aren’t stuck in hospital
- Keep primary care accessible and affordable – review the current model
- Tackle the key worker housing crisis – staff are our lifeline
- Plan for future staffing, tackling recruitment and retention issues
- Act on youth mental health – appoint a Mental Health Champion, working to continue and expand the Guernsey mental health and Wellbeing Strategy
- Insist on value for money – measure productivity, not just costs
BEYOND HEALTH
- Support practical housing reform & help for first-time buyers
- Push for fairer taxation – broad, balanced, and honest about GST
- Back smart investment in early years, infrastructure & skills
- Make the best of our current education system while planning for the future
- Approach assisted dying cautiously – focus first on quality palliative care
What I Stand For
- Independence from parties – I’ll work with anyone focused on results
- Evidence-based decision-making, not political games
- A belief that Guernsey can – and must – do better
A Bit About Me
I’m a doctor, a dad, a stepdad, a sailor, a skier, an all year round swimmer and a vegetable patch enthusiast (!). I help run my wife’s floristry business (you may have seen me out on the cargo bike!). We share our home with two Labradors, a parrot, and a very old cat.
