Postal Voting

Postal voting is open to all voters

Voting by post enables voters to take part in the election without needing to visit a polling station. It is available to all registered voters – not just people who may be away at the time of the election. For some people it may be an easier and more convenient way of voting.

Opting for a postal vote means you can vote at a time that is convenient to you. You can take as much time as you want to fill in the ballot paper from the comfort of your home, and you can safely return your vote in the post (or to a polling station if you wish). It removes the need to visit a polling station to cast your vote. If you want to apply for a postal vote, you must do so before 29 May 2025.

Request a Postal Vote

If you register for the Electoral Roll online, you can opt for a postal vote at the same time.

However, if you are registering using the household registration form you will need to request a postal vote separately. You can do this online or by filling in an application form available from the Election Office. The closing date for postal vote applications is 29 May 2025.

If you have already registered on the new Electoral Roll but have decided you would like a postal vote, then you can resubmit your details and select the postal voting option.

When will I receive my postal vote pack and how do I use it?

Your postal vote pack will be posted to you a short time after nominations close (14 May 2025). This pack will contain instructions on how to complete and return it.

A guide with instructions on how to use the postal vote pack will be provided here in due course.

Postal vote return deadline

Please note it is your responsibility to check postal collection times to ensure your pack will arrive before the deadline.

If you miss the postal deadline your completed postal vote pack can be put in the Sir Charles Frossard House post box before 8pm on 18 June 2025 or taken to any polling station and given to a Polling Station Official before 8pm on 18 June 2025.

A postal vote can only be accepted at a polling station if it is accompanied by the ID verification form that you will receive in your postal voting pack and return envelope issued in the postal ballot pack. It must be handed to the polling station staff in accordance with the instructions in your pack. A postal vote without the accompanying form and envelopes can not be accepted by polling station staff and the votes will not be counted.
