Deputies may be required to travel off-island. Members who travel frequently are typically those holding the most senior posts, who lead the States’ external relations activities, and those who play the most active roles in the Guernsey branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

Deputies can also be expected to formally attend certain civic events, such as Liberation Day, but similarly, these duties are greater for holders of the more senior posts than they are for other Deputies.
